Optima Grove School Language Project a Success

Why learn another language? This is the question that Optima put to Year 9 pupils from the Grove School, Newark. Working in small teams, they eached produced presentations designed to convince a panel of judges that learning a foreign language is important. The event was organised by our Education Director, Jo Small, as part of her role as Business Language Champion.

Grove School Language Project WinnersThe creative presentations included interviews with local businesses, research from local primary schools and video footage of school pupils. The first prize was awarded to Langues Pour la Vie (Languages for Life) by the Mayor of Newark, who emphasised the need to learn languages.

The event was made a success by the support of local businesses. The winning group (pictured) received vouchers donated by Via Italiano, and matched by Optima Training, to dine out at the local restaurant and enjoy traditional Italian cuisine. The winners will also have their poster published in It’s All About Youmagazine. Dean Hyde, Chairman of Newark Business Club, has also invited the winners to deliver their presentation at September’s Newark Business Club meeting.
