School language projects started
School language projects started at the Grove School in Newark to promote language learning to students.
Jo Small, Education Director at Optima Training (UK) Ltd, started to work with the school as part of the Business Language Champion scheme. The started to the school language project to get students thinking about the importance of language skills. It also encourages them to think about how they can promote this to others in their local community.
Their target audience can be school pupils, local businesses or the general public. Working in teams, the students will develop a leaflet or poster to promote the importance of learning languages to their chosen target audience.
On 15 July, they will present their ideas to a panel of local business representatives. The judges will be looking for the level of research demonstrated, audience appeal, creativity and clarity of communication skills.
The school language projects will be a great experience for the students taking part, who will be developing team work, presentation and language skills.
