Power Loop ®
Navigate to:
Leadership. Outdoors. In Motion.

A Power Loop® is a structured leadership conversation that happens outdoors away from desks, screens and thin meeting-room walls. Fresh air isn’t decorative. It changes the conversation.
Power Loops combine physical movement with a disciplined four-stage structure to turn stuck thinking into decisive action. This isn’t a scenic stroll. It’s operational clarity done outside.
If you’re waiting for perfect conditions, you’ll never do this.
Why Outdoors?
Because environment shapes behaviour. Being outdoors:
- Reduces interruption
- Shifts energy
- Lowers defensiveness
- Creates privacy without a closed door
- Makes forward progress feel natural
You don’t need dramatic scenery. You need space, air and forward motion.
The Structure of a Power Loop
We don’t just move. We LOOP. Stepping out with a clear focus, we follow the structure and return with a decision. The LOOP framework creates progression:

Locate. Clarify the real issue. Strip it back. Name what matters.
Observe. Notice patterns, assumptions, behaviours and context shaping the situation.
Options. Generate practical choices. Test them against operational reality.
Progress. Define the next concrete step. Establish ownership and movement.
By the time we complete the loop, there is a decision, a direction and a committed next step. Movement supports thinking – it does not replace it.
Where Power Loops Are Used
Power Loops are integrated into:
- One-to-one leadership coaching
- Leadership development programmes
- Team reset days
- Operational decision-making moments
- Periods of change or transition
They resonate particularly strongly within construction and operational environments, where leaders need thinking space without stepping away from the work itself.
Power Loops in Practice
In a construction environment, a Project Manager was experiencing repeated tension between Site Supervisors and subcontractors. Meetings were becoming defensive and reactive. Rather than schedule another formal session, we ran a 30-minute Power Loop around the perimeter of the site.
- Locate: The real issue was not “poor communication” – it was unclear decision boundaries.
- Observe: Decisions were being escalated too quickly. This created bottlenecks and frustration.
- Options: The PM identified three practical adjustments: redefine sign-off levels, adjust daily check-ins, or introduce a clear escalation rule.
- Progress: The leader piloted revised decision thresholds and reset expectations with the team the next morning.
The result was not a dramatic intervention. It was sharper clarity, faster ownership and fewer defensive exchanges.
Several construction leaders now use variations of this structure informally as part of their weekly rhythm.
Building internal capability
Power Loops can also be taught internally. Organisations may choose to train managers, HR partners or leadership teams to use the LOOP structure in their own settings – car parks, campuses, client sites or outdoor spaces.
This creates a shared language for reflection and action without adding another meeting to the calendar.
A coaching option with structure
Power Loops sit alongside traditional coaching sessions. Some leaders prefer a blend; others use them at specific decision points.
If this resonates…
- You are wanting to develop ownership inside operational teams.

- Or you might simply be exploring different approaches to leadership coaching.
If this sounds like you, let’s start with a conversation.
