Love Learning Languages

Congratulations to Love Learning Languages (LLL), the very appropriate name of the winners of this year’s Grove Language Project. Over sixty year 9 pupils visited the Newark Beacon on 4th November to deliver their presentations to the judges.

The panel consisted of five local community leaders:

  • James Fountain, Chairman of Newark Business Club
  • Clodagh Cooney, Regional Manager of Links into Languages East Midlands
  • Sally Gillbourn – Economic Regeneration Officer, Newark and Sherwood District Council
  • Sally Fagan – Business Language Champions Project Manager East Midlands
  • Tony Roberts – Mayor of Newark.

LLL will deliver their winning presentation at Newark Business Club on Friday 10th December and will have their poster printed. The team will also work with Optima to produce a language blog. Pupils were encouraged to contribute to the blog with interesting language related articles and facts. It is hoped that it can be used to build up links with Newark’s twin towns of Emmendingen, Saint-Cyr-Sur-Loire and Sandomierz. The second and third prize winners, Einfach Geil and DGZG, have been tasked with writing language articles for the school newsletter.

We would like to say a big thank you to all our project supporters, especially Newark Beacon who provided the conference room and helped to look after our guests.
